How to Be a Decent Story Writer Writing a decent novel can be hard work, sometimes it seems as if all the good ideas have already been taken and creating believable characters is just too hard. If you are ever stuck follow these useful steps. The following steps can be applied to all genres of story writing. STEPS 1 Practice writing skills: Writing skills such as simple grammar, spelling, sentence structure and nominalization are all important for those who wish to be decent story writers. It is also important to expand your vocabulary. Do this by keeping a dictionary close by when reading in-case you run into any words you are not familiar with. When ever you have the time, look up synonyms for different words and practice grammar, sentence structure, and other forms of writing skills such as nominalization, descriptive paragraphs, etc. This will help broaden your knowledge of English and you will find your writing more fluent. 2 Create an outline: Before you begin your story, it is a good idea to have a general idea of the plot. If the plot is unclear you may find clashing ideas later on in the story so be sure to have a good idea of it before you begin. Be sure to stay away from common ideas and try to create your own unique story line. For example, the story line of the rogue sorceress conquering the world is incredibly cliche and over used. Think up your own unique story.

Financial Planning For Women

Financial Planning For Women Financial Planning For Women(photo: Jupiterimages/Comstock/Getty Images) "Women shouldn't feel guilty for saving money toward their own futures. Not being dependent on your family when you're older is the least selfish thing that you can do." — Beth Kobliner, author of "Get a Financial Life: Personal Finance in Your Twenties and Thirties" and a member of the President's Advisory Council on Financial Capability. Money and financial planning may seem universal, but there are a few important areas where men and women differ. And how women confront and navigate those differences can affect their long-term financial health. Women's rights advocates and financial planners say that the playing field generally is not level for women, both in how much money they earn compared to men and in how they view their overall relationship with money. Knowing that these issues exist can help women not only advocate for themselves but take a more serious attitude about their financial health earlier in their lives. "If women realized how dramatic these factors are, they might start planning and investing sooner," said Manisha Thakor, a personal finance expert and founder of the Women's Financial Literacy Initiative. Pay Gap The pay gap between men and women still exists. (photo: Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images) Experts say that financially, women start off right out of college in a hole. A study from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) found that within one year after graduation--after accounting for college major, occupation, industry, age, race, region, marital status, number of children, experience, hours worked and several other factors-- there was already a 5 percent difference in male and female earnings. Over time, that gap widens further. According to the United States Census Bureau and Bureau

Freezing   How to Freeze Onions Onions can be frozen for use later but only if you use them in cooking as they lose some of their texture and go a bit mushy (if you need raw onions, use fresh ones.). Be aware that the flavor deteriorates with time, although most of the flavor is preserved provided the onions are not frozen for too long. However, if you managed to chop more than you needed for a dish and you know you won't be able to use up the excess in a hurry, freezing the remainder can be a good way of saving it. STEPS 1 Select suitable onions for freezing. Choose onions that are fresh, without blemishes and mold-free. Ad

How to Caramelize Sugar Used in a number of different desserts, caramel sauce is a common topping for everything from crème brûlée to leche flan. Sweet, rich and flavorful, this sauce is actually quite simple to make so long as you have the right materials and technique. Read the following article to learn how to caramelize sugar on your own stove in a matter of minutes. Choose either the wet caramelization method, which adds water, or the dry caramelization method, which only uses sugar. Method 1 of 2: Wet Caramelization Gather your ingredients. To make caramel using the wet method, you will need two cups of white, granulated sugar, half a cup of water and a quarter teaspoon of lemon juice or cream of tartar. If you only require a small amount of caramel, you can halve the quantities provided above: one cup of sugar, a quarter cup of water and 1/8 teaspoon of lemon juice or cream of tartar. Depending on the desired thinness or thickness, your ratio of sugar to water will vary. The thinner you want the sauce, the more water you should add. 3 Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan. Use a quality metal saucepan with high sides and a thick bottom. Cheap, thin-bottomed saucepans will often have hot spots that can burn the sugar and ruin your caramel. It is also better to use a saucepan made from a light colored metal, such as stainless steel, as this will allow you to see whether the caramel is browning properly. 4 Place the saucepan over a medium-high heat. Stir the mixture constantly with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until the sugar begins to dissolve. To turn sugar into caramel, it must first dissolve or melt, which occurs at approximately 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160 degrees Celsius). At this point, the sugar syrup should be clear in color. 5 Add the lemon or cream of tartar. Add the the lemon juice or cream of tartar (which you should dissolve in a little water first) to the sugar syrup. This will help to prevent the sugar from recrystallizing.[1] 6 Bring the sugar and water to a boil. As soon as the sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture begins to boil, you should stop stirring. 7 Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. You want the sugar syrup to be simmering, rather than boiling. Cooking times will vary according to proportions of water to sugar, different stove tops and other factors. Therefore, when you caramelize

Home and Garden How to Attach a Garden Hose to a Kitchen Faucet Filling a large bucket with water from your sink can be problematic: if it fits in the sink at all, it's going to become very heavy once it's filled. You could use the hose outside, but all you get with that is cold water. You could fill it in the bathtub, but you still have to haul it out of the tub. But there's an easy solution: simply attach your garden hose to the kitchen faucet, fill it up! With just a couple twists and turns, it's easy and fast to do. We'll show you how to do it safely!   Part 1 of 2: Attaching the Hose 1 Get a faucet adapter. This is a small adapter that screws onto the faucet and converts the end of the faucet into a male garden hose fitting. Youthful

Be a Successful Young Woman. You can become a successful young woman and carry that forward all your life! If you want to refine and make yourself better in all facets of life, this article is for you. STEPS     1 Make short term goals that lead to medium and long term ones and to your life's goal. Take action to set yourself on your pathway to achieve them -- as one leads to another. A life without dreamy goals is like trying to walk to the other side of the country without a map, or realistic road directions. You may need to search long and hard, and grow your plans into finding something(s) that you're passionate about, but it will be worth it for-all-time. It will set your whole life straight. You get to be whomever you want... in your best life! Ad 2 Never sell yourself for any amount or anything! Self respect is the most important thing a woman can have. Be true to yourself and don't let anyone else steer you away from the right path and stop you from achieving your goals. 3 Don't give yourself away except to your life's love: hold out for your better life! This may sound old fashioned -- but it is essential, if you want to fulfill dreams and know your true love -- and not end up in complicated situations that may cost you your life's best dreams -- including your commitment to your true life's love. These days dating seems like a casual activity, but it certainly is not. Settling for a "coin flip" decision, on giving yourself away, could get you into a lot of complicated situations that will ruin your life! If a guy loves you enough -- he will want to spend his entire life with you -- and he wouldn't mind waiting until marriage (that's if he's the right guy for you). If he is willing to wait for "you", it will really show you that he loves you, not just one more temporary, sexual rush. He will have to love you as a person, rather than just appreciating your body. There's a reason for signing up for the long term, totally committed relationship: your whole life can still be ahead of you, not in a cracked rear-view mirror.

Travel How to Enjoy a Lake House Vacation Taking a lake house vacation isn't that much different than going to the beach. It still offers most of the same waterfront views and water based activities, and sometimes it can even provide more experiences than those by the sea, owing to sheltered conditions or archaeological finds. This article gives a few tips on planning and enjoying an affordable, and memorable, lake house vacation. STEPS       1 Choose the lake house wisely. Not only should affordability be factored in but consider the space available. For two people, a small lakeside cabin might be ideal but for a large family, you'd soon be getting in the way of one another. The more people, the more space needed, so err on the side of additional space rather than less so that everyone has a space to get away to when they need to unwind most. Also, consider where everyone is going to sleep and account for personal preferences when it comes to people sharing rooms. If you've asked extended family members or friends to join you, ask them about their preferences for being accommodated; don't assume. Other things to bear in mind when selecting the lake house include: The amount of other people in the area Acceptance of children at the property (or not) Acceptance of pets (or not) Proximity of convenience stores Ease of getting there and access to the lake house Equipment provided for use on the lake or for activities (such as canoes, kayaks, boats, life jackets, etc.) Activities available in the area, including play equipment for children Catering facilities, including dishwasher, microwave, etc. DVD player, games consoles, Wi-Fi, TV, etc... or not! Whether the house comes with cleaning or you have to do that yourself (note: some places will charge a cleaning fee or bond to ensure cleanliness) Safety and security.

To Dress for the Theatre Is it your first time to the theatre? When you buy tickets for a theatrical production, it can be hard to decide what to wear. It seems like people are dressing more and more casual when they go out, but some events have remained a sense of class. These steps will make it easier to know what is appropriate. Steps 1 Find something casual, but elegant. When someone says "casual", it doesn't always mean baggy jeans, a loose T-shirt, and sneakers. If you don't like dressing up, at least wear something respectful. For instance, girls can wear a clean skirt with a nice top and with any sort of clean looking shoes. Boys can wear black trousers, a collared shirt, and a jacket with any clean shoes. Ad

New update of July 2015   How to Wear Progressive Glasses   The optician’s term “progressive lenses” refers to a type of trifocal lens that includes magnification for distance, intermediate and close objects. Unlike bifocals and trifocals that were once used, there is no line between the changes in magnification, so an outsider can’t tell you’re wearing them. Just like bifocals, progressive glasses are a tool that you learn to use properly over time.   Part 1 of 2: Ordering Lenses     2 Talk with the optician about your job and activities. For example, if you work on the computer a lot, you will need a heavy focus on the intermediate line of sight. If you drive for a living, the distance sight will be more important. 3 Get measured for glasses of your choice. Progressive glasses are available in many shapes and lens sizes. Keep in mind that the bigger the lens, the larger the area for sight there will be. Small lens glasses may make a very abrupt change between your peripheral vision and your clear vision. The point at which the glasses stop on the side of your face will determine how often this point interrupts your sight. 4

How to Make Traveling Long Distance Eas We travel long distances for business, family reasons or holidays and vacations, but the trip itself is r                                            New Up date August 2015       To Make Travelling Long Distance Easier We travel long distances for business, family reasons or holidays and vacations, but the trip itself is rarely a pleasure. Let's try making long distance travel easier!   Method 1 of 3: For All Kinds of Travel     1 Put your travel into perspective. What one person considers a long distance might not be so long to others. As a rough guide, you might consider travel to be "long" if it's more than 8 hours by air, more than 6 hours by train, or more than 4 hours by car. However, what feels "long" depends on regional attitudes. In the USA, an 8 hour flight might seem long. To Australians, who frequently fly direct to Europe or the USA, 18-24 hours is long but commonplace. An English person may feel a 1-hour drive is "long", while another traveller may complete a longest single car drive from Brisbane to Sydney totalling 15 hours. A trip is "long" when you make special preparations for it because you feel it is necessary due to the length of time you will be travelling. Ad 2 Get excited about your trip. Okay, the travel itself might be a drag, but your mindset will make all the difference. If you're excited about where you're going and what you're doing, the trip can be well worth it! Try to reframe your perception of the distance to avoid being overwhelmed by it; if you can't do that, at least focus on the end goal being worth it!     3 Dress appropriately. Generally, dress for where you're going to, not where you're coming from. An Arran sweater is a trap in a Singapore summer. Be comfortable. Use layers so that you can adjust to varying levels of air conditioning in airports, planes, stations, trains, cars, and so on. Wear something with front pockets or have a bumbag or fannypack so things are easier to reach (e.g. sweets, lozenges, headache pills, ear plugs, napkin). Wear a suit if you have immediate business commitments, but try to hang it up, if in first or business class, or carry it on board in a half-length suit bag that will fit without crushing in an overhead locker.     Consider wearing an angler's jacket. These waistcoats have multiple forward pockets perfect for holding, and easily reaching, all your nick-nacks. When a meal or beverage comes, your paperback slips in a pocket. Your passport is handy. You can slip off the jacket at customs without having to unpack it.     Method 2 of 3: For Planes and Public Transit

13 Mental Health Benefits of Exercise Whether you want to alleviate stress, sharpen your brain, or boost overall happiness, here's how moving your body can help Many people hit the gym or pound the pavement to improve cardiovascular health, build muscle, and of course, get a rockin’ bod, but working out has above-the-neck benefits too. For the past decade or so, scientists have pondered how exercising can boost brain function. Regardless of age or fitness level (yup, this includes everyone from mall-walkers to marathoners), studies show that making time for exercise provides some serious mental benefits. Get inspired to exercise by reading up on these unexpected ways that working out can benefit mental health, relationships, and lead to a healthier and happier life overall. 1. Reduce stress. Rough day at the office? Take a walk or head to the gym for a quick workout. One of the most common mental benefits of exercise is stress relief. Working up a sweat can help manage physical and mental stress. Exercise also increases concentrations of norepinephrine, a chemical that can moderate the brain’s response to stress. So go ahead and get sweaty—working out can reduce stress and boost the body’s ability to deal with existing mental tension. Win-win! 2. Boost happy chemicals. Slogging through a few miles on the ‘mill can be tough, but it’s worth the effort! Exercise releases endorphins, which create feelings of happiness and euphoria. Studies have shown that exercise can even alleviate symptoms among the clinically depressed. For this reason, docs recommend that people suffering from depression or anxiety (or those who are just feeling blue) pencil in plenty of gym time. In some cases, exercise can be just as effective as antidepressant pills in treating depression. Don’t worry if you’re not exactly the gym rat type—getting a happy buzz from working out for just 30 minutes a few times a week can instantly boost overall mood.   3. Improve self-confidence. Hop on the treadmill to look (and more importantly, feel) like a million bucks. On a very basic level, physical fitness can boost self-esteem and improve positive self-image. Regardless of weight, size, gender, or age, exercise can quickly elevate a person's perception

Health of Man

Why Brown--But Not White--Rice is One of the World's Healthiest Foods The difference between brown rice and white rice is not just color! A whole grain of rice has several layers. Only the outermost layer, the hull, is removed to produce what we call brown rice. This process is the least damaging to the nutritional value of the rice and avoids the unnecessary loss of nutrients that occurs with further processing. If brown rice is further milled to remove the bran and most of the germ layer, the result is a whiter rice, but also a rice that has lost many more nutrients. At this point, however, the rice is still unpolished, and it takes polishing to produce the white rice we are used to seeing. Polishing removes the aleurone layer of the grain--a layer filled with health-supportive, essential fats. Because these fats, once exposed to air by the refining process, are highly susceptible to oxidation, this layer is removed to extend the shelf life of the product. The resulting white rice is simply a refined starch that is largely bereft of its original nutrients. Our food ranking system qualified brown rice as an excellent source of manganese, and a good source of selenium, phosphorus, copper, magnesium, and niacin (vitamin B3). The complete milling and polishing that converts brown rice into white rice destroys 67% of the vitamin B3, 80% of the vitamin B1, 90% of the vitamin B6, half of the manganese, half of the phosphorus, 60% of the iron, and all of the dietary fiber and essential fatty acids. By law in the United States, fully milled and polished white rice must be "enriched" with vitamins B1, B3, and iron. But the form of these nutrients when added back into the processed rice is not the same as in the original unprocessed version, and at least 11 lost nutrients are not replaced in any form even with rice "enrichment." Here are some of the ways in which the nutrients supplied by brown rice can make an important difference in your health: Manganese—Energy Production Plus Antioxidant Protection Manganese helps produce energy from protein and carbohydrates and is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids, which are important for a healthy nervous system, and in the production of cholesterol, which is used by the body to produce sex hormones. Manganese is also a critical component of a very important antioxidant enzyme called superoxide dismutase. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is found inside the body's mitochondria (the oxygen-based energy factories inside most of our cells) where it provides protection against damage from the free radicals produced during energy production. Women Who Eat Whole Grains Weigh Less A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition underscores the importance of choosing whole grains such as brown rice rather than refined grain, i.e., white rice, to maintain a healthy body weight. In this Harvard Medical School / Brigham and Women's Hospital study, which collected data on over 74,000 female nurses aged 38-63 years over a 12 year period, weight gain was inversely associated with the intake of high-fiber, whole-grain foods but positively related to the intake of refined-grain foods. Not only did women who consumed more whole grains consistently weigh less than those who ate less of these fiber-rich foods, but those consuming the most dietary fiber from whole grains were 49% less likely to gain weight compared to those eating foods made from refined grains. Brown Rice is Rich in Fiber and Selenium For people worried about colon cancer risk, brown rice packs a double punch by being a concentrated source of the fiber needed to minimize the amount of time cancer-causing substances spend in contact with colon cells, and being a good source of selenium, a trace mineral that has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of colon cancer. Selenium is an essential component of several major metabolic pathways, including thyroid hormone metabolism, antioxidant defense systems, and immune function. Accumulated evidence from prospective studies, intervention trials and studies on animal models of cancer has suggested a strong inverse correlation between selenium intake and cancer incidence. Several mechanisms have been suggested to explain the cancer-preventive activities of selenium. Selenium has been shown to induce DNA repair and synthesis in damaged cells, to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells, and to induce their apoptosis, the self-destruct sequence the body uses to eliminate worn out or abnormal cells. In addition, selenium is incorporated at the active site of many proteins, including glutathione peroxidase, which is particularly important for cancer protection. One of the body's most powerful antioxidant enzymes, glutathione peroxidase is used in the liver to detoxify a wide range of potentially harmful molecules. When levels of glutathione peroxidase are too low, these toxic molecules are not disarmed and wreak havoc on any cells with which they come in contact, damaging their cellular DNA and promoting the development of cancer cells. Not only does selenium play a critical role in cancer prevention as a cofactor of glutathione peroxidase, selenium also works with vitamin E in numerous other vital antioxidant systems throughout the body. These powerful antioxidant actions make selenium helpful in the prevention not only of cancer, but also of heart disease, and for decreasing the symptoms of asthma and the pain and inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis. Lower Cholesterol with Whole Brown Rice Here's yet another reason to rely on whole foods, such as brown rice, for your healthy way of eating. The oil in whole brown rice lowers cholesterol. When Marlene Most and colleagues from Louisiana State University evaluated the effects of rice bran and rice bran oil on cholesterol levels in volunteers with moderately elevated cholesterol levels, they found that rice bran oil lowered their LDL (bad) cholesterol. The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, was divided into two parts. First, 26 subjects ate a diet including 13-22g of dietary fiber each day for three weeks, after which 13 switched to a diet that added defatted rice bran to double their fiber intake for five weeks. In the second part of the study, a randomized crossover trial, 14 subjects ate a diet with rice bran oil for 10 weeks.

How to Celebrate the International Year of the Potato "The United Nations declared that 2008 is the International Year of the Potato. Why? Because as wheat and rice prices surge, the potato is being rediscovered as a nutritious crop that could cheaply feed an increasingly hungry world."[1] The International Year of the Potato (IYP) may be over, but the celebration still has meaning today. The IYP was intended to raise awareness of the importance of the potato, as well as agriculture in general. That means addressing issues of global concern, including hunger, poverty and threats to the environment. This article provides some ways for you to join in the celebration of the humble spud. Steps 1 Learn about the reasons why the potato is an important food crop. The potato is being hailed as a very useful food crop that can be easily grown in many parts of the world as a source of nutritious food. The benefits of potatoes include: They're global favorites: potatoes have been transported all around the world, and can be grown almost everywhere. Efficient: growing potatoes means being able to produce more nutritious food and in harsher environments than any other major food crop. "Up to 85 percent of the plant is edible human food, compared to around 50% in cereals".[2] Nutritious: potatoes are good for you. They are rich in carbohydrates, which provide long-term energy, and they have the highest protein content for the root and tuber family, "with an amino-acid pattern that is well matched to human requirements".[3] Increasing future demand: eating potatoes is on the rise around the world, indicating that potatoes will become more and more important as a substantial food crop.

Natural Remedies for Sore Throats Overview A sore throat refers to pain, itchiness, or irritation of the throat. You may have difficulty swallowing food and liquids, and the pain may get worse when you try to swallow. Throat pain is the primary symptom of a sore throat. Part 2 of 6 What causes sore throats? Advertisement Allergies, dry air, and outdoor pollution, as well as illnesses like the common cold, flu, measles, chickenpox, mononucleosis (mono), and the croup, can all cause sore throats. These illnesses are all viral infections that will not respond to antibiotics. Bacterial infections are responsible for only a small percentage of sore throats, including those linked with strep throat, whooping cough, and diphtheria. Most doctors recommend calling a doctor only in cases of severe sore throat accompanied by a fever, or when swollen tonsils block the throat. Even if a sore throat isn’t serious enough to warrant a trip to the doctor, it’s still painful and may interfere with a good night’s sleep. Fortunately, there are a number of at-home remedies you can use to soothe the pain and irritation. Part 3 of 6 Remedies Remedy #1: Licorice root Licorice root has long been used to treat sore throats, and recent research shows it is effective when mixed with water to create a gargle solution.

How to Paint a Tulip in Watercolor Watercolor lends itself beautifully to painting flowers, because flowers are colorful and soft. The organic lines and the manner in which the paint puddles onto the paper make for a lovely representation of any floral subject, especially with the variations of shade. Though tulips do not contain many free-flowing petals, you can create beautiful lines by simply drawing with water instead of drawing the subject with pencil. 10 of the Oldest Cars in the World Have you ever wondered what the oldest cars in the world are? A quick answer may be the Ford Model T. That is understandable, since one of the few pieces of car history taught in American schools is Henry Ford’s contributions to the mass production of the automobile. Unless you have the desire to delve deep into automotive history, you may not even realize that the internal combustion engine is bit of a johnny-come-lately addition to the automobile, putting the Model T fairly far down the list of oldest cars in the world. Part of becoming a fan of car history is to realize that the oldest cars in the world were powered by steam. The oldest gasoline powered car was not built until 1885, when Karl Benz produced the Benz Patent-Motorwagen. Eventually diesel and gasoline powered internal combustion engines proved to be easier to produce. The engines also proved to be more predictable and reliable to use as well as being more economical to operate. Those qualities have allowed the internal combustion engine to dominate car history. However, that may change as alternative fuels become more attractive to a wider customer base. There were literally thousands of automobiles built before Henry Ford sold his first Model T. So, how do you narrow what could become a very long list? First, we limited our list to vehicles that actually traveled across terrain. We are using the word ”terrain” because streets were limited to large towns and there was no highway system when the first cars and trucks were built. Second, we restricted ourselves to vehicles that there is an existing example of. Third, the vehicle had to be capable of carrying a passenger. That eliminates the earliest electric units that were either small-scale models only or just traveled on a track without an operator. Lastly, we eliminated trains, motorcycles, steamboats, etc… in order to focus on cars and trucks. With all of those factors in mind, these are ten of the oldest cars in the world. 1. Cugnot Fardier A Cugnot Fardier | Musee des Arts et Metiers At the request of French military officials, French inventor and fortifications expert Nicholas Cugnot designed and built the first self-propelled carriage. The first prototype was built in 1769. Designed to tow artillery to the battlefront, its speed was set at three miles per hour so that soldiers could keep pace with it. It could pull a load of five tons and could operate for one hour and fifteen minutes before stopping. The only known example, pictured above, is on display at the Musee des Arts et Metiers in Paris, France. 2. Hancock Omnibus

New update of August 2017    How to Convince a Reluctant Relative to Visit a Doctor  lthough it's not uncommon for someone to dread going to the doctor, you may struggle to figure out what to do when someone you care about is in need of medical care but refusing treatment. You don’t want to just roll over easily, but you also may not be able to force the person to go, either. Convince your relative to see a doctor by having a discussion to share your concerns and better understand their reluctance. Then, try to work with them to find a solution that meets their needs and allows them to see going to the doctor in a whole new light.   Mathod 1.Having the Conversation 1 Don’t wait until a crisis. The worst thing you can do is try to convince them to see a doctor when their health is in dire jeopardy. If you do this, the decision may be made hastily and may not include your relative’s best interests. Instead, start having the conversation early on.[1] For example, a teenage relative becomes pregnant, but doesn’t trust that the doctor will respect her privacy. She may fear they will tell her partner or her parents about the pregnancy. You might want to start asking her about her prenatal care plan as soon as possible so that the baby can get proper care that the mother feels comfortable with. Similarly, try to get your aging parents regular checkups before a problem arises. That way, you will understand their wishes and be able to follow appropriate measures in the event of a serious health scare. 2 Approach the subject with care. Don’t back them into a corner. Cornering your loved one may make them even more resistant to help. Have an easy-going conversation with no pressure. Choose a time when you are both relaxed and able to talk without distractions. Bring the subject up casually. For example, you might say, “Mom, when was the last time you saw a doctor?” or “Jody had to leave early to take his dad to the clinic. It made me remember that you haven’t gone in a while.” 3 State your concerns clearly and with love. If your loved one isn’t open to a casual suggestion, you will need to approach the discussion head-on. Be clear and direct about your concerns, especially if their health is in a critical state. You might say, “Mom, I can tell that your arthritis is getting worse.
